APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF STUDENT VISA

IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. Full-time Non-local students whose limit of stay would be expired before their study end, or who is required to defer their study period should apply for a student visa extension. It is the responsibility of individual students to make appropriate visa extension arrangements before they can continue to study in HKSAR.

  2. The supporting letter required can be obtained by making an application at the online Student Visa Application System indicated below within 6 weeks before the expiry of the current student visa. Under normal circumstances, when all required documents are submitted to satisfaction, the supporting letter will be ready for collection online within 5 working days (excluding the day of submission). Early submission of application would be put on hold.

  3. Students are required to apply for a student visa extension directly with the Hong Kong Immigration Department (ImmD) with the required supporting letter issued by the Admissions Office. The application for visa extension to the Extension Section of Hong Kong the Immigration Department (ImmD) should be submitted online within 4 weeks before the expiry of the current student visa. Please be reminded that you should be physically present in Hong Kong at the time of submission of your extension application and collection of your extended visa.

  4. ImmD will normally take around 2-3 weeks to process an extension of student visa.

   5. Part-time students should apply for a new student visa instead of an extension.

* If your visa permit has already expired, you should apply for a new entry visa permit.
